George & Ninette at The Laurentian Mountains are only about an hour north of Montreal. For a relaxing stay no matter what the season, a great getaway is Le Manoir Saint-Sauveur, with its modern spa to relax your weary soul. (The Manoir Saint-Sauveur is a delightful resort in the heart of the Laurentians, here pictured with its outdoor pool) The manoir is a lovely, four-star resort hotel in the charming Laurentian village of Saint-Sauveur.
(The Manoir Saint-Sauveur's comfortable lobby, with its fireplace perfect in winter months) This welcoming hotel is the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway in summer, fall, winter or spring, with a full range of personalized services, including an elegant spa. 25 Family Suites, Too The manoir offers a total of 280 rooms, with five luxurious executive suites in the main building, 26 in the Avoriaz Pavilion, and 25 family suites in the "Bordeaux," "Cadillac" and "Domaine" condo-pavilions. We were particularly impressed by the Manoir Saint-Sauveur's relaxing spa and sampled its wonderful treatments. The hotel includes a full range of facilities, including a salt water indoor pool, a Finnish sauna, a steqam bath and whirlpool bath and a fitness center.
(Relax after your treatment in the spa's comfortable lounge) Our favorite facility was the manoir's spa, a lovely blending of wood and stone that turns your visit into a soothing experience. Following our massage treatments, we could relax in a modern setting with comfortable sofas and fresh fruit juices. L'Ambiance Restaurant And when it comes to food, we enjoyed the gourmet pleasures of L'Ambiance Restaurant, which specializes in regional products. The wine cellar includes 3,000 bottles in reserve. In the summer, one can enjoy the Summer Terrace for dining, with BBQ and bistro-style menus available.
(The indoor pool at the manoir) For some leisurely entertainment, there's always the Impressioniste Bar, where you can take a jazz break and enjoy a bistro menu.
(A two-story Avoriaz suite has room for the entire family!) In the morning, we looked forward to a pleasant country breakfast, complete with warm croissants made with dough flown in from Paris!
(Shopping along rue Principale is quite an experience in Saint-Sauveur!) Saint-Sauveur has the highest concentration of bistros, bars, fine restaurants, fashion boutiques and art galleries in the Laurentians, with a large factory outlet just as you pull off Highway 15, the route you take from Montreal to the Laurentians. Downhill Skiing In the winter, the Saint-Sauveur valley attracts downhill ski enthusiasts with numerous night-lit ski trails. Winter activities in Saint-Sauveur include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and horseback riding.
(Saint-Sauveur offers a wide variety of winter sports, including downhill skiing) For
real adventure, there's snowmobiling or dog sledding! Location:
